Our Speed Queen replaced an GE washer that was operable but every cycle had a ridiculous soak cycle that lasted longer than the wash cycle....sooo frustrating, and that's why Metro called it off when our Speed Queen arrived. We love our Speed Queen! It doesn't do unexpected cycles. You have the option to soak if you choose with a simple dial selection. And guess what? The lid doesn't lock when filling so you can add an additional item that escaped the original load. I have to admit that the purchase price was substantial, however if you want a durable washer that lasts for years, simple to operate, the top rated washer and made in the USA, Speed Queen is IT!

The spin cycle is amazingly gentle and does not shake and move as my Maytag did. The wash time is much quicker than the Maytag. My Maytag lasted only 3-1/2 years before the repair cost was more than I paid for the machine. So far, I am very pleased with the Speed Queen.

I've had this machine about a month. It's quiet, it thoroughly cleans clothes, and it is quick. The normal cycle is about 30 minutes long. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Made in USA. Built to last 25 years. Old fashioned top loader with an actual agitator. What more can I say? My clothes are the cleanest they've ever been. My only 'complaint' is the lack of water level selection options. I'd like to see a smaller load level.

I sucked in 6 years ago and bought a front loader and I hated it. So happy to be back with a Speed Queen. No mold or mildew and no smell! Can't malfunction with a load of clothes locked in it. And my mother had one that lasted decades so this is the brand for reliability and quality.

I've had my speedqueen washer about 2 months. At first I was worried about a 10 minute wash cycle (start to finish), but the clothes are clean! The fabric softener dispenser doesn't always do that. I find small puddles of un-used liquid softener in the bottom of the drum. The other, worrisome issue is water leaking. The repairment came out, but couldn't make it leak. The first load after he left---you guessed it! All over the floor. This is an on-going issue, so we'll see how it plays out.
I gave 4 stars because I'm happy with the washer. It's just those issues I stated that keep me from being thrilled with it.

I'm very impressed with this washing machine. As a family of 4, I do laundry every day. It cleans our clothes extremely well, including my husband's work clothes. He is a logger and it handles all the sawdust and sweat and mud perfectly fine. It even cleans his clothes when he has had to work on equipment and gets hydraulic fluid on them. Best appliance purchase I've ever made 😁

I work on machinery for a living, so my clothes are filthy. After just one wash in the speed queen my clothes are noticeably cleaner and smelling fresher. We have washable rugs in the kitchen that were looking dingy and we were going to throw them away. After just one wash they looked almost new. Wish we would have bought a Speed Queen years ago.

This machine caused at least $5000 worth of damage to my dry wall and floors.
The pump sucks in too much air during the heavy duty cycle creating foam. The foam will not go down the drain pipe. The wet foam silently creeps down the wall behind the machine, across the tile, and under the laminate floor boards causing them to warp. Going unnoticed until the damage is done. This is not caused by too little/ too much soap or any other operator error. This is caused by a mechanical malfunction in the pump. The dealer exchanged this unit for a Maytag Commercial unit that operates as it should.

I really like the basic features of this machine. I didn't want all the technology which so easily malfunctions. My only concern is that the extra rinse cycle is generally required to get all the soap out of the clothes. I wasn't expecting that.

After buying a Maytag that lasted only a couple years, I had enough. Tired of paying good money for junk we took the plunge and purchased the TC500 and boy are we glad we did. It's a throwback to the 70's when things were built to last. No needless gadgets, does anyone really need wifi on a washing machine? A complaint we read was it's noisy. It is a little but only in a good, mechanical yeah I'm scrubbing your skivies kind of way. Cycle time is absurdly short, literally like 12 minutes but everything comes out clean. The drum is on the small side but everything we've washed has fit right in and the water comes to the top of the drum if desired. The larger drums on competing brands if you look at where the holes are, the water doesn't go to the top anyways. Speaking of water, yep, plenty of it gets added to the load so your clothes actually get agitated and clean. Kinda like the opposite of a low volume toilet that you have to flush 3 times to clear. This thing is a Luddite's dream ride, a thowback. A no fills, rock solid piece of America! This thing rocks. My wife was skeptical of the price but every time she uses it I get the same response "Thank you for talking me out of the LG (Ugh that's what she wanted), I LOOOOOOVE this washer! "

After having an LG front loader for 10 years, I am so happy to have this "old school" washer!! It works wonderful! There is plenty of water to clean my laundry!! There are very simple controls and it doesn't take forever to wash a load. I can still wash all my blankets because the drum is pretty large. I do have a big comforter that I haven't tried yet. ( A removable agitator would be great for this, I think.) The only 2 drawbacks I see, are no dedicated separate rinse cycle and not being able to have the lid open while the water is coming in. (I like to put some water in, add detergent and then add the clothes.) Of course, it is pricey but considering the washers that are out there now, it is well worth it!!

No so good for the $1.750 I paid.It leaves water does not go out completely. I have to use the extra spin mode. When I use that. I have to unplug the machine and plug it back in. Then i have to let the clothes spin. The control does not ALWAYS GO TO SPIN, We had to call a technician out within two weeks of purchasing the machine..

This is reminiscent of the washing machines of yesteryear because it's very mechanical rather than entirely computer driven. I bought a Speed Queen washer in 1990 because I wanted one feature: longevity. The salesman convinced me by saying Speed Queen is the brand laundromats use. 34 years later I needed a new washer but feared that I would really miss the easy retro dial controls. I just assumed washers today would be operated by a complex motherboard or Wi-Fi. Then I found the TC5 Top Load Speed Queen and I am thrilled with its simplicity of use. I am in my 60s so I believe this will be the last washer I'll ever have to purchase. If you think it's too pricey, start saving up now. It's worth it because remember the days when old school appliances were workhorses and lasted? This is one of those reliable machines. Buy some other brand if you are lonely and need visits from repair people.

I recently purchased both a Speed Queen washer and dryer. I am so very pleased with both units. I like the options presented for operation and the ability to adjust to the needs of each load. The washer does an incredible job cleaning and rinsing (so important for clean, soft laundry), and the dryer efficiently dries the loads based on the settings I select. I would recommend Speed Queen laundry units with 5 stars. I luv my Speed Queen units!

Very solid machine . Great built quality. Way better then what you can buy in any box store. Deep wash tub . Takes some figureing out who to use the different features . The only thing we don't like is that when filling if you open the door it stops filling but NOT a deal bracket ! It does a nice job cleaning . We would definitely buy again . I bought a Speed Queen 6 months ago after hearing how amazing the machine is and how great the warranty is. At first I did love the machine, it does clean well, however the loads are very small and it's kind of irritating to not be able to fit even full size blankets in there to wash.
After just 5 months, it started to shake really bad during the spin cycle and I could tell something inside the machine was broken (I could hear parts clanking around).
Getting speed queen to respond to my request for a repair service took 2 weeks because they "lost your submission, sorry about that". Then the repair company they sent out was less than adept. They said they could see that a small piece of plastic had broken off, but when the service company called speed queen to verify the repair under warranty, Speed Queen rep said that the shaking and clanking was because the owner had either too small of a load or an unbalanced load which was causing the shaking.
I've since callled the appliance company I bought the machine through and they generously installed a loaner machine while we figure it all out. It's been over a month now and my machine still is not working.
The machine is broken after only 5 months and working with Speed Queen warranty has been very difficult.

I was recommended this product from my trusty repair man of 20 plus years, when the high dollar machine I had stopped working after just 3 years. I paid over a thousand dollars for this All Digital and couldn't even get the lid up during mid cycle machine, and just like that it froze up during a regular cycle. When I contacted my service person, I was told he wouldn't work on the piece of crap. When I ask why he decided to tell me all about the restrictions and how it was going to cost me more than I paid for it to get it fixed. When I asked what machine is best anymore then, he recommended this machine and I haven't been disappointed since. This is a great machine and so durable. Gets my clothes clean fast and efficiently, and it actually has water over my clothes when its washing them! Plus if I forget something I can add it to the load easy mid cycle.
