After doing extensive research across various forums and online posts, we decided that a Speed Queen would be our next washer. My wife was initially concerned about the load size based on the specifications, but visiting a local appliance store and doing a side-by-side comparison made all the difference and helped us finalize our decision on the TC5.
We've had the machine for about two months now, and my wife has had nothing but great things to say about it. She loves how fast the wash cycles are, how clean the clothes come out, how quiet the machine runs, and the fact that it easily handled a king-size Korean mink blanket with no issues.
Overall, money well spent-and a great investment for a US made product.

Like the top loader washer instead of front loader.
The fabric softener dispenser, even with the "extra rinse" selected, doesn't always clear the machine barrel and it causes a concentrated smell on the clothes. I use very little softener when adding to the machine. Otherwise, the machine works well.

Finally a washer that uses water and agitates! My previous "energy efficient" washer that would only fill a 1/3 of the tub on any setting & left clothes soaking in dirty water. My whites are white again and can wash & dry a load in less than half the time of other manufacturer.

I love having the no lock washing machine and being able to throw that one more piece in the tub after I've started the wash cycle. The machine runs efficiently and after a month, I've had no issues with it.

Our clothes seem so much cleaner! This machine can handle heavy flannel lined jeans (more then one pair) along with a full load and not go out of balance. I am extremely happy!

This is the third washing machine we have purchased since December of 2016. The first was a front loading Samsung that lasted three years. The last one was a top loading Westinghouse that lasted about six years. Washing machines should be built to last much longer than that. The reviews say that this machine is not quite. I like to hear my washing machine. That way I know it is working. I like the fact that it balances itself. No more trying to rearrange wet clothes. I like the simple knobs. Most of all I like the fact that my clothes are clean and spun using less laundry detergent.

Honestly incredible washer. We have it running almost every day multiple times a day. With a family of 4 and doing cloth diapers, we have a lot more laundry than most, and after 2 years with it, it hasn't shown any signs of wear at all. We've had no issues with it, it still looks new, and the wash quality is unmatched from the basic washers we've had before. Nothing beats the old fashioned agitator, I hope they dont stop making this model for that reason alone. Anyway, in the words of the guys who installed it for us when we asked if it was a good washer: "well we only ever install them once and never repair them, so I'd say so".

Bought both the tc5 and dr5 in December. The Tc5 was the biggest mistake. It has the sudsing issue from Day 1, the first load. And I don't want to hear, 'it's the clothing having residue, its too much soap, etc'. I had a brand new load of clothing to wash (just purchased) and I used 1 tablespoon of HE soap and it was sudsing in the standpipe on the heavy duty cycle. I have video if the hose shooting out NOTHING but suds. I then washed a load of brand new bed sheets with 1 tablespoon of HE soap and same thing. I then washed a load of regular clothes I have owned wirh 1 tablespoon of HE soap and same thing. So this is an issue with this machine on heavy duty cycles. I would never recommend this machine to anyone else. What am I supposed to do? Wash clothes with no soap? I mean a tablespoon and its doing this? Unreal. I even tried switching soaps (I tried Tide, Persil, and Purex) but all the same. Once I get more money I will be throwing this machine out.

Having purchased other brand names in the past, they do not compare to the Speed Queen we recently purchased. It is quiet, well made, and washes in a shorter time. The laundry cycles are well suited to the clothing/items I need to wash. A great machine!!!

So much better than the last 4 machines we have gone thru over the past 10 years! Our last Maytag began jumping around with anything over 5 or 6 pieces of laundry in it. Repairs were done but nothing really helped. We trashed it after 2 years and got the Speed Queen. Instead of little squirts of water and inadequate rinsing cycles and 2 hours of waiting between washings, the Speed queen give plenty of water and gets done in 1/2 hour. And no shaking and bouncing around. and it has a 5 year warranty we probably never need. Wife was hesitant to spend the extra money but she loves it now and thinks its the best deal ever!

Good so far. Only problem with it, it walks. If a load is washed and not evenly distributed in the basket the washer walks. I've found it to walk 2 feet from where it normally sits. I've leveled it up and will watch it. May need to call for warranty service if it continues. Better than some of the other ones I've come across

Not clear what setting(s) on washing machine are for small or medium loads. Not clear on dryer settings what is low and medium and high heat. Also dryer setting marks dont line up to the knob clicking for when it is ready to run.

I am not that happy with how it is working. It is built good but I don't like that the water shuts off when the lid is lifted. It also doesn't spin the clothes out as good as my old Maytag did.

Only had it a couple of months. The cycle is very fast. The lid hits the control knobs when lid is opened. The end of cycle alarm would be nice if it was actually loud enough to hear. Would like to review after a few years.

We chose Speed Queen because of their superb reputation for quality. So far so good. The washer is fast and not issues cleaning. The only downside is that it is noisy. But no complaints about the cleaning ability regardless of the load size.

Recently moved to a new home and the "inherited" washing machine "died" within six months. Prior home had a Speed Queen purchased in late 2014 that worked flawlessly. Based on that history, product reputation and the recommendations of repair people, opted for a Speed Queen washer (and matching dryer). The machine is solidly built, doesn't move when loaded with bulky items, and washables appear clean, all significant reasons for choosing a Speed Queen washer. But, the controls are misleading. Appearance implies that they are timer-controlled, but they never moved. Contacted Speed Queen by email and was initially informed that the controls do move during the cycle. Before spending money on a repair call, I telephoned Speed Queen. The customer service agent then verified with a technician that the controls on this specific model are not on a timer.

We have had several washers throughout the years that never lived up to the hype. We always did our research before our purchases but we were always disappointed. We had heard such great things about Speed Queen but thought the prices were a little too steep for us. But after the last failed washing machine purchase, we decided to spend a little more than normal and try our luck. I can say without hesitation that we have been beyond thrilled with our washing machine! We are absolutely loving it! We will not own any other brand after trying the cadillac of washers!
